My Favorite Studios in LA

My Favorite Studios in LA

7 Shops Every Black Girl Should Know About-2.png

My health and fitness journey has been a lifelong feat. I actively self- diagnose and heal myself holistically (that's a different story for another day lol) and if it's fitness related, I am there! From running to yoga to boxing, I can pretty much say I've tried it all. I know it can be daunting to find a good studio with good teachers and an all around good vibe. Especially in LA where there are 50 options in just a 2- mile radius! A few months ago I got ClassPass and tried a bunch of new studios so here are my faves

Hot Pilates- West Hollywood

I THANKFULLY found this studio about a month ago because of my friend Felicia's avid recommendation. By watching  body literally TRANSFORM, this studio is now number one on my list right now & I cannot stop raving about it. If you're looking to build strength, tone, sweat & feel empowered, go to any one of their daily class offerings. Owned by Shannon Nadj, Hot Pilates is located in the Sunset Plaza with plenty of free parking! The teachers' bodies are enough for me to keep making the drive cause I now want a PILATES BODY (& booty)!

Barry's Bootcamp

If you haven't heard about Barry's I am here to tell you that you are missing out! With four locations in the LA area, Barry's offers high intensity, muscle focused 1-hour classes that are so much fun you can't even complain about the burn! These classes are perfect for those trying to build muscle as well as losing fat. In one week I did three classes and I never knew what to expect but I was always expected to work hard.

Black Dog Yoga- Sherman Oaks

Black Dog Yoga has a very special place in my heart. I have been practicing yoga there for almost three years now & I can say that I am so happy I found this studio. I am very picky about yogic energy & at Black Dog every teacher and class aligns with my goals. There are classes all day long, free hot tea and free parking! Each month they also offer workshops for meditation, inversions and even Ayurvedic food preparation. Black Dog competes with other major chain yoga studios in the area but still holds it down!

Modo Yoga- La Brea

Modo is another studio I feel so blessed to have found. They now have three locations (La Brea, Echo Park & Venice) but I first tried a class at their first location on La Brea. There are weekly classes at all hours of the day as well as in depth workshops. I've had the opportunity to take classes with a few different teachers for several different styles of yoga and I left all of them rejuvenated.

Beatbike Indoor Cycling- Tarzana

Before this year I was deathly afraid of spin classes but now I am addicted. I love the way most workouts feel but for some reason I had convinced myself that cycling would be the death of my legs. Of course I was wrong and Beatbike proved it for me. Located on Ventura Blvd, Beatbike also has free covered parking and is in the same building as Whole Foods Market (all of my money goes to working out and the post workout shakes). The 45 minute class is just enough to burn at least 300 calories.

One thing I can say about all of these studios is that they are small and every class can feel like it's a personal experience. I've made awesome friends who all share very similar goals to mine.

If you've never used ClassPass before, be sure to use this link for $40 off your first class package!

I am not being paid by any of these studios or ClassPass for this post. I just love them that much!
